MEETING WITH THE REPRESENTATIVES OF THE BUSINESS COMMUNITY OF ARARAT REGION ON THE TOPIC OF “MECHANISMS OF TRANSPARENT BUSINESS MANAGEMENT”
On September 15 the meeting with small and medium business representatives on the topic of “mechanisms of transparent business management” started in Ararat.
The purposes of the meeting were to raise the awareness of the business community of Ararat region on the legislative changes related to the sphere and to identify those issues which do not allow small and medium businesses to show flexibility during the epidemic. The representatives of the business community and state institutions of the region took part in the meeting organized by the CCI of RA in partnership with the US Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE). They shared their concerns about the amendments in tax and labor codes, raised important issues related to the field and made up many suggestions.
The Operations Director of the CCI of RA Vladimir Amirian presented the purpose of the meeting and the agenda issues to the participants and urged them to take an active part in the discussion by making up their suggestions.
The Chairman of the financial and economic commission of the CCI of RA Vladimir Shatverov presented the main amendments in the tax and labor codes and the problems that could be arisen due to those amendments.
The project manager and anti-corruption expert of the CCI of RA Edgar Mehrabian concluded the meeting. He spoke about the mechanisms of transparent business management and presented the main provisions of the anti-corruption guideline developed by the CCI of RA, the sample code of an anti-corruption regulation developed for SMEs, and the rules adopted by the CCI of RA.
The participants asked a number of questions and made up suggestions related to the use of cash register receipts, the transition from one type of tax regime to another and a number of other issues. At the end of the meeting the participants were given certificates for participating in the discussion organized by the CCI of RA.
This initiative is one of the next steps of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of RA, aimed at raising anti-corruption awareness in the regions, revealing the problems of the business community, and making their voices more audible.
This kind of meetings will be continuous. Discussions with representatives of business communities of a number of regions of Armenia, as well as the city of Yerevan, are planned to take place in the near future. The schedule of the meetings will be available on the webpage of CCI of RA.
After all the meetings the package of suggestions will be formulated and shown to the policy-making and implementing bodies.
