Armenia-Dominican economic ties
On April 7, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Dominican Republic to Armenia Hans Dannenberg Castellanos (residence in Moscow) visited the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Armenia. The Chamber Executive Director Andranik Alexanyan and Executive Director Vladimir Amiryan received the Ambassador. During the meeting, the Ambassador presented the economic level of the Dominican Republic and the spheres of possible cooperation.
The Dominican Republic is one of the countries with a subtropical climate in the Caribbean with a population of about 10 million. In the past, agriculture was especially developed. At present, with the development of the free economic zone, industry already dominates. The country has reserves of nickel, silver, bauxite, gold and iron. It has 7 international airports and other export and import infrastructure.
Speaking about the perspectives of developing cooperation with Armenia, the Ambassador emphasized the need for a direct flight, as well as he expressed hope for the establishment of strong friendly ties between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the two countries in the near future, which will be the first important step.
And as a second possible step, Vladimir Amiryan added the factor of having a consul of the Dominican Republic in Armenia.
The Ambassador expressed hope that the mentioned problems will be solved in the near future during the next meeting.
